Can we all be cured of a Coronavirus?
As of right now, there is no “cure” for the Coronavirus… No vaccine or Western medicine that will make it go away.
According to Jim James Robb, MD FCAP, “Unbelievable molecular knowledge about the genomics, structure, and virulence of this virus has already been achieved. BUT, there will be NO drugs or vaccines available this year to protect us or limit the infection within us. Only symptomatic support is available.”
Symptomatic support, eh?
That’s where Ayurveda shines!
This whole thing – especially all the fear that’s spreading (equally viral to the virus itself) has got me thinking…
It’s those of us who are OPEN to holistic medicine, preventative health, positive mindset, and herbal remedies that are going to stay the healthiest and come out on top.
But I digress. My intention here is to answer the question I believe everyone is thinking, “Should we really be scared?” Or perhaps, “How scared should we be?”
Keep reading for the top 5 things I’ve discovered!
Note: I’ve pulled information and writings from multiple sources – including Dr. Michelle Sands, Dr. Tonya Fleck, Mary Sheila Gonnella, Jim James Robb, MD FCAP, Emergency Physician, Stephanie Lovell, Devani Freeman, Tias Little, DeAnna Batdorff, Willow Brown, and more. Thank you to these brilliant people for their expertise and support!
DISCOVERY #1: Stress, fear, and panic stimulate your adrenal glands – throwing you into fight or flight response. Fight or flight causes worry, anxiety, more stress, rushes of adrenaline, and imbalanced cortisol levels. Guess what happens next?
Your life-force energy spirals into a downward spiral of yuck – causing you to reach for all the things that weaken your immune systems such as sugar, caffeine, fast food, drugs, and alcohol.
Not to mention how negatively charged emotions affect your sleep, energy, relationships, and immunity!
When your adrenals are healthy, you’re less susceptible to getting sick. Your adrenal health is key!
DISCOVERY #2: From Devani Freeman, “This charged time is bringing up a lot of fears around the Coronavirus in the collective. Don’t let yourself fall into the fears planted by the news and media. Yes, it’s an issue AND you can stay protected.
It’s crucial to use this time as an opportunity to be mindful of your health and your beliefs around health. Know that you are protected. Believe that you are immune.
“Be wise with what you put in your body to keep your immune system UP. Decrease processed foods, table salt, canola oil, sugar, conventional meats, dairy, and alcohol. Invest in high-quality foods.” – Keep reading for my specific recommendations on that!
I love this quote from Danielle Paige, ‘If you eat crap, live life from all your old fears and continue to live life in 3D programming, no amount of Purell is going to help. Sorry but not sorry.’
It’s time to be totally intentional around your thoughts and beliefs. Think of this as an opportunity and INSPIRATION to become even stronger in your energetic and physical body. You have the power to unplug from the fears.
DISCOVERY #3: It’s important that we all become informed, aware, and prepared – for the Coronavirus and any other threats that might be coming our way.
What’s most crucial is that you develop a mindset of RESILIENCE. Which just so happens to be the primary teaching Mary Sheila Gonnella and I are taking with us to Mexico next week for our Ayurveda Spring Equinox Retreat! (We have postponed this retreat to late October 2020).
DISCOVERY #4: Caring for your health, tending to your immune system, and raising your wellness vibration deserves to be a daily practice, not something you do out of fear.
Radical self-care is your health insurance – and I believe it pays off 1,000 fold in turbulent times like these.
DISCOVERY #5: From Emergency Physician, Stephanie Lovell, “For many years, virologists have predicted that a virus-like this would emerge… that it was only a matter of time. It’s not a Chinese bioterror weapon that was accidentally or purposely released. It is not a democratic hoax. It is real. However, it is also not a reason to panic. Although most of us will contract SARS-CoV-2, it is not terribly lethal.”
From Jim James Robb, MD FCAP, “This virus only has cell receptors for lung cells (it only infects your lungs). The only way for the virus to infect you is through your nose or mouth via your hands or an infected cough or sneeze onto or into your nose or mouth. Prevent yourself from touching your nose and/or mouth. This is the only way this virus can infect you – it is lung-specific.”
PHEW! That’s a lot of information.
SO HERE’S MY ADVICE after weeks of paying attention to all the Coronavirus information from health experts and physicians I trust. As well as all I’ve collected over years of tending to my own health and committing to consistent and holistic self-care.
Honor your body’s natural healing ability by following my 11-Step Ayurveda Wellness Guide below!
I hope it helps you relax in knowing you can prepare, take care, and trust you have the power to help yourself feel safe and protected. While there may be no Coronavirus cure as of now, there’s so much you CAN do to be well.
Your 11-Step Ayurveda Wellness Guide:
#1. Your fundamental defense lies in your immune system and a healthy gut/microbiome. Support your gut health daily by taking a high-quality probiotic every day on an empty stomach. Eat lots of naturally cultured foods such as raw sauerkraut, beet kvaas, and cinnamon-spiced coconut yogurt and infuse your meals with detoxifying digestive spices such as coriander, cumin, turmeric, and black pepper.
#2. Eat clean and organic. Get lots of green vegetables, healing broths, superfoods, and vegetable juices in your day. Infuse (practically) every meal with oregano, basil, ginger, garlic, lemon, black pepper, and turmeric.
#3. If you’re thinking about doing a cleanse, you’re thinking CORRECTLY! My FREE 5-Day Detox Your Body With Ayurveda Bootcamp starts Monday, April 6th. Join me for it! It couldn’t be better timing (for a multitude of reasons)!
#4. Help your body protect itself. Take EXTRA herbs, food-sourced vitamins, and supplements to boost your immunity. Work on your immunity as though your life depends on it – because it might!
Your health is worth the extra investment you may need to make to uplevel your health. These are my absolute go-to herbs and supplements for protection, gut health, and immunity right now:
- Biocidin Liquid or Biocidin Throat Spray – use 3x/day or more, especially when traveling
- Zinc Lozenges with Elderberry
- Oliverex – this is a complex of powerful anti-viral and immune-supporting herbs including olive leaf extract, garlic, milk thistle seed extract (liver support), and goldenseal. Take 1 to 2 capsules between meals, 2 to 3x/day
- Truly Natural Vitamin C or Triphala (you can get Triphala from Banyan Botanicals) – Take 2 to 3,000mg Vitamin C per day. I love to mix Truly Natural Vitamin C with water (it’s delicious) and then I use that drink to take some of my other supplements. I call it herbal multi-tasking 🙂
- Medicinal Mushrooms, especially Chaga and Reishi – I’m obsessed with Billy’s Infinity Chai. I add it to hot water and drink as my morning “coffee”
- Vitamin D-3 – Take 3,000 to 10,000 IU/day or more (I’m a fan of liquid D-3. PureEncapsulations.com is also a high-integrity brand)
- B-12 – Got a local naturopath? Consider stopping by for a super-charged B-12 shot. This is adrenal support. My favorite brand of B-12 is ReadiSorb Liposomal Spray
- Oxygen Stabilized in Water – Oxygen Extreme by Healthforce Superfoods is AMAZING anti-viral, anti-microbial, anti-bacterial goodness. Kind of similar to Collodial Silver only different. You can use Oxygen Extreme to gargle morning and night, clean your eyes, and clean wounds or the eyes of your pets
- Selenium – you can get this vital mineral from a few Brazil nuts/day
- Chyawanprash – take 1 teaspoon as your first “food” of the day
- Vitamin A – I’m using Micellized Vitamin A from Klaire Labs. Take 10,000 IU per day (but don’t use if you’re pregnant)
- Feel Better Tea (scroll down for my recipe!)
Unless otherwise noted, use these herbs 2 to 3x/day – every 1 to 2 hours if you feel you’re starting to get sick (and until your symptoms subside). Taking herbs at the first sign of illness will greatly reduce the risk of you getting sick.
#5. Go to bed early – between 9:30 and 10 pm. Even if you’re not tired… turn out the lights and lie down. This one practice alone will help your adrenal glands recharge, which in turn will make your immune system more resilient. Listen to the Insight Timer app (it’s free) if you need a bedtime story or guided meditation to help you settle down. “Yoga Nidra: Melatonin Magic” by Jennifer Piercy is one of the best sleep meditations EVER!
#6. Intermittent fast whenever you can. Aim for 12 to 14 hours of no food each night. This will help boost your immunity on every level.
#7. Stock your medicine chest with potent essential oils that support your health and immunity. They can help you feel safe and clean and like you’re doing all you can to fight off foreign invaders. My favorites include Ravensara, Spikenard, OnGuard by doTERRA, and Breathe by doTERRA. Rub a few drops onto the soles of your feet a few times/day (and up to 1 drop on the sole of your child’s feet up to 2x/day – consult a practitioner if you have any doubts). You can also get these essential oils in lozenge form (great for kids and travel).
#8. If you plan to travel… Keep your nose and mouth covered with a handkerchief or bandana spritzed with Lavender and/or Ravensara essential oil. Don’t worry about looking weird! Nobody cares and you’ll be a good-smelling example of radical self-care. Carry a 2-ounce bottle of Biocidin throat spray or Zinc lozenges and consume a dose every hour.
#9. Strengthen your immune system by manually moving your lymphatic fluid. If your immune system isn’t flowing as steady as a river, it can’t come to your rescue. Your fluids need to be full and flowing!
- Dry brush daily – or twice a day. Feet to heart, hands to heart
- Rub nourishing, herb-infused oil into your skin AT LEAST once/week. The more often the better – you can infuse 4 ounces of sunflower oil with 40 drops of OnGuard essential oil, for example = EASY
- Hydrate every morning, afternoon, and evening with warm water and a pinch of ocean salt or Sole.
- Click here to learn how to make Sole!
#10. Wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands. I’m in love with doTERRA’s OnGuard Foaming Hand Wash. It doubles as a hand sanitizer smells great, and contains doTERRA’s protective blend of essential oils. Also, wash your doorknobs, computer keyboards, phones, etc. Prevention is YOUR BEST WAY to prevent Coronavirus.
#11. Use your Neti Pot every day. Clearing your nasal passages with boiled (cooled to room temperature or warm only) or distilled water, high-quality mineral-rich salt, a few drops of Biocidin and a dropperful of my super Nasya Oil can do wonders for your respiratory system, even if you feel perfectly fine. This practice protects your ears, nose, and throat while keeping spring allergies at bay – plus it’s fast and easy.
