On a scale of 1 to 10, how confident do you feel about your new year resolutions?
If it’s less than 10, keep reading!
I’m about to shed some serious and much-needed light on the truth about this time of year. In fact, it might just be the excuse you’ve been looking for to relax.
You’ve heard the saying, “New Year, New Me,” Yes?
We hear it every time January hits, just as the weight watchers commercials begin and people start rushing to the gym to snag the last treadmill (or wake up early to jump onto that new Peloton!) just to keep in alignment with their new year resolutions.
There’s so much hype about January being a fresh start that we’re convinced this is the time of year when we must GET INTO ACTION and MAKE BIG CHANGES.
But as far as nature is concerned, this couldn’t be further from the truth!
Ayurveda teaches us that there is a natural rhythm to things.
The symbolism of a fresh start on New Year’s Day is beautiful… but the changing of the seasons is way more important to pay attention to
Honestly, the real fresh start happens on Solstice.
The shift between fall and winter is when nature calls on us to REST, hibernate, and dream.
It’s a time to plant the seeds of what you want – especially in the spiritual realm.
New year resolutions are a great way to set goals, but it’s NOT the time to push and “make things happen.”
The shift between winter and spring is the time you truly want to plan for when it comes to taking action and creating change.
Spring’s the time when nature comes back to life. The days warm up and it’s much more pleasant outside.
Internally, spring is when your body gives you the signal that it’s time for renewal.
That might feel like:
- Brain Fog
- Skin outbreaks
- Sluggish Digestion
- Self Doubt
- A deep desire for change
At first glance, this sounds like a bad thing, but really it’s the natural winter build-up of Kapha that tells you when it’s time to shed some weight and find balance.
I’m sharing this with you in hopes that it gives you the permission you need to slow down and give yourself a little more time to enjoy the cozy moments only winter has to offer.
A month from now, we can start moving some Kapha with a 7-day Winter Cleanse that will help you reset, renew, and revitalize the right way.
Until then, How about a gorgeous cup of hot chocolate?!
My Healthy Obsession [Hot Chocolate]
Ingredients:
½ cup hot water
½ cup steamed milk – dairy or non-dairy
2 heaping Tablespoons ground raw cacao or cocoa powder (carob powder works, too)
1 teaspoon medicinal mushroom powder (see below)
1 teaspoon maple syrup
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Dash ground cardamom or ginger
Pinch of high-quality, mineral-rich salt
How To Make
- Put the hot water, steamed milk, raw cacao, mushroom powder, maple syrup, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt into a blender.
- Blend until smooth and frothy, about 15 seconds.
- Taste and adjust flavor as needed. If you want it sweeter, consider using liquid stevia or monk fruit syrup.
- Serve with or without a dollop of coconut cream!
Note: When it comes to medicinal mushrooms [insert link: https://bit.ly/396zlL0], choose chaga when you need immune-boosting, antioxidant support. Reach for reishi when you want calm, relaxation, and sleep. Go for lion’s mane when you need brainpower and cordyceps for overall body function and performance.
I hope this blog post has given you the permission you need to enjoy your winter guilt-free!
Love, Talya
While it may not be time to blossom just yet, it’s not a bad time to start planting some seeds for the future, and I want to plant the seeds for the upcoming 7-Day Winter Cleanse. More details coming soon!
